First post here but thought I'd see if anyone had any idea's on why I'm having such problems with my upgrade.
I'll try and be as specific as possible but the issue has seemed to drag on for a long while now!!
Here is the TLDR version of whats below;
- Phoned to upgrade package from 1 to 2, it took many months and many calls to change.
- When it did change it was fine through January.
- Checked limit online last week and it has reset fine showing 1.something used out of 40GB limit,
- Now just checked again and its gone back to 10GB limit and i'm about to go over again!
Long version!
Basically moved to a new flat and had BT broadband Level 1 connected on 18th August 2011. Things went well for a couple of months, so well in fact that I got a bit overzealous and went over my download limit twice!
Easy answer (I thought), ring up and upgrade to the next package up with the 40GB limit. Heres where the problem started.
Firstly, the package didn't change at all, so rang up BT again, and again, and again (etc) to find out what was going on. During this time I was told that my order would be cancelled and reordered (which was done a few times), was told that there were multiple orders open so they would not go through, finally was told that an 'offline' team were looking into it, and they were the best people to get it sorted, and not to worry about my usage because there was a note on the line saying that downloads under 40GB would not be charged. WRONG! I was charged, repeatedly, and up to £20 extra on my bills to get it sorted. Only more calls to BT to re-explain the issue to each person would solve it.
THEN; all of a sudden the speed just dropped into a chasm. I'm used to speeds of ~2MB here, so not rapidly fast but enough for my needs, but this new speed was essentially non exsistant. 2hrs to download one 3MB track etc. NO chance of me going over my limits now then!
More calls to BT and more non answers, (only use the internet between midnight and 8am was a particular favourite). So now I had been on Package 1 for about 3 months after the upgrade order was placed, and practically unusable internet.
HOWEVER, the new year came and much merriment was had, added to when I switched on the laptop and lo and behold, I could load web pages without having to wait for hours! I then signed onto My BT and for some reason the 'check my usage' page had changed and was showing my limit as 40GB but the packages page still said I was on package 1.
Wasnt too bothered as long as speed was good and had 40GB limit. Kept checking the usage throughout the month and all was fine. Last check was either early this week or last week.
NOW I just checked back again and its reverted back to the 10GB limit!
I'll have to ring BT in the morning but to be honest, im dreading the thought of it!
