How can I close my BT Community account?

You can request the closure of your Community profile by sending a private message to one of our moderators asking for your profile to be closed. Any one of these chaps will be able to help: @James-B, @Leanne_T, @Christopher_G, @Katie_B, @Peter_W, @Linzi_H, @Chris__S, @Michael_D, @Alex_H, @Rach_H, @Ali_A, @Debbie_G, and @Lesley_W.

Will all my personal information be removed from my profile?

Yes, once your account is closed, all Personally identifiable information (PII) will be removed. This will include, Username, Avatar, Email address, IP address, First name, Last name, signature, homepage url, title, location and bio.

Will all my posts be removed?

No, all your contributions (posts) will remain in place on the Community. This is because there will be no personally identifiable information included in public posts. Our moderators would have removed this at the time of the post. If, however, you believe there is personally identifiable information contained in one of your posts, please let us know at the time of your request so we can review this, prior to closing your profile. Your username will be anonymised so all your post will not be linked back to you

What happens if I change my mind?

Once we initiate an account closure there is no way we can undo this. All your information will be removed permanently. You will be free to create a new profile, but we cannot retrieve your Community stats, i.e. posts, kudos, solutions

I did, and I cannot send private messages which is why I'm wanting to leave. It's also why I left that message public, I'm sorry I probably should have put that in the original message 😅

If you can type a message in the forum you can send a private message to one of the moderators. All you need to do is click on one of their names in the first post above and then click on the "message" envelope on their profile page that opens.

I would be surprised if you could send messages the minute you join, as an anti-spam measure.

Which begs the question, why you need to send messages having only just joined?

If you click on any of the names in the message I posted above, this will open up their profile page and if you look at the right hand side you will see a Blue "message" box. Click on that and compose your message then click "send message".

EDIT: Message crossed. If you click on @Christopher_G it will open his profile page.

You send a message by clicking on the envelope beside the bell and your avatar at the top of this page.
