It was openreach engineers who came about the pole as BT Retail are not responsible for the pole. Only openreach will know when the pole will be replaced and BT Retail like all other ISPs apart from virgin will just need to wait until openreach can replace the burnt pole

Burnt telepole. Replacement

So the neighbours bin caught fire and it was on the pavement next to the telegraph pole. Bt engineers came today and said the pole wants replacing. Has anyones street needed a new pole? How long does it usually take? Half the street has been without internet now for 6 days, I understand times are hard, will this be classed as essential work?

That would be the responsibility of Openreach, so it could take quite a while with the current situation.

I do hope your neighbour is well insured for third party damage, as the cost could run into tens of thousands.

Thanks. Its says estimated fix date is 17th so hopefully we're not waiting weeks. 3 children at home which seem to think no wifi means the end of the world 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️😂😂

Ive no idea if she has insurance. Will she be billed? Her partner put something in the blue bin apparently that had been lit and obviously not put out properly 🤦🏽‍♀️ over heard her arguing with a neighbour, she was saying she was allowed to leave her bins there, she never takes them in her garden. Theyre still out now.

Just an aside from the main issue, a word with the local Council might get the bins moved. It worked here when a section of our street thought that obstructing the footway was a good idea to save them having to wheel a bin about 5 metres once a week.
