No, it cannot be done at hub level on either hub, you will need to do it on a per machine basis

It's a long time since I used anything older.

If I remember correctly, the hub5 allows you to select a DDNS provider from a very, very, limited drop-down

Interesting. The Business hub 5 was what I have been told might work as it has (apparently) a auto/ manual selection for DNS. I presume manual means I can enter my own rather than the usual drop down of five providers.

This may sound like a daft question, but is there anything on a business hub 5 that confirms it's a business router and not domestic. Will probably try and find one on eBay but don't want someone selling a hub 5 as a business one when it's not.

You'll probably be better of with a third party hub, there's plenty of them that can do what you want and are 'affordable' (depending on how much you're willing to spend)

As @Anonymous has said, you's be better off with a third party VDSL router. The TD-W9970 is a popular choice around £30-£40 mark. (£33 on Amazon)

If you go to the plusnet community site, There is a poster Baldrick1 who uses a BT Business Smart Hub on plusnet broadband. As a residential user.

As they are part of BT the hub works with plusnet but not with ee the other company which is part of BT. Neither do ee hubs work with plusnet or BT.

On the thread I show, it may assist you. Although it is BT Home Hub 6, read the posts as some will talk about the Business Hub and the difference

The BT Business Smart hub is packaged as such and is different to the Residential Smart Hubs and are availabke on Auction sites

 https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1742690#M19438

also see

https://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/categories/guide/a_id/43964/view/42397/c/5404/

I have no problems with it, I use the BT Smart Hub2 however it depends what you want and what demands you require from your modem/router. When I was with plusnet used BT Smart Hubs with no problem, found them better than the Re branded BT Home Hub 5 which plusnet offered. They also look smarter if you are unable to hide them.
