G.Fast

Openreach have been installing G.Fast extension cabinets on all the cabinets in my town, is there a way to find out when it will be available to purchase in my location? It is not currently showing on the broadband checker website. It must be about 6 weeks since they installed it on my cabinet.

Just keep checking on the dslchecker until you see available then order

Nope, all you can do is keep checking the checker. It could be months before it becomes available.

The upgrade of G.Fast has been suspended until April 2021 as Openreach are concentrating on FTTP Upgrades instead.

They won't be G.Fast pods.

The G.Fast rollout has been paused.

They will be VDSL Sidepods.

Basically they've managed to fit a VDSL DSLAM (what's in the fibre cabinets) in to the same pods they were using for G.Fast.

It's how they are increasing capacity now, and saves them installing a 2nd (or even 3rd) fibre cabinet.

They contain a Huawei MA5818 DSLAM with VDSL2 line cards.

If you lookup you cabinet on codelook it might tell you they have added a VDSL Sidepod to your cabinet.
