Openreach Battery Backup Unit - Fault Light on even after new batteries

The fault light on my Openreach Battery Backup Unit (BBU) is lit and will not go away. I have tried charging the batteries in a separate charger and even replacing them with a different set but no matter what the Fault light is always lit.

Anyone seen this before or know what the issue could be?

The BBU’s are notorious for failing. Do you even need it, do you have the FVA Service?

Even if you do you won’t for much longer as Openreach are ceasing the product soon and all FTTP Circuits will be provided with VOiP by BT.

Ok thanks. I do have a landline phone service but don't actually use it, so I guess I can live without it. If they are notoriously flaky I wont worry about it too much.
