if you have broadband then you do have a landline - but you may not use it

the most basic test for broadband problem is to see if your landline has a dial tone. if no dialtone hence why no broadband and you need to report a phone fault to 151

Without checking for dial ton on a phone, there is nothing else you can do.

If you can check, and there is no dial tone, then reporting it to BT normally gets its fixed quicker, as landline faults take priority.

A cheap wired phone costs less than £10, and could save you an £85 visit charge, if the fault is within your premises.
