Is this Fibre ?

I'm trying to get fibre to the home and having a nightmare getting someone with some common sense to review the situation. Overreach/BT are saying that there is no fibre in my area although both my neighbours have fibre to the premises. 3m outside my house is a BT pit (photo attached) can anyone confirm this is a fibre box.

Who is your Internet provider, as not all sell FTTP?

Its Openreach that provide the network.

1. It’s called a Joint Footway Box, of JF. It’s not called a ‘Pit’.

2. You shouldn’t be in there.

3.It looks like a Fibre Node, possibly a Splitter or Intermediate Node.

1. Just because there’s a Fibre Node in there it doesn’t mean you can get FTTP.

@Crake2020 yes that is fibre in the pit, so therefore it is in your area but may not necessarily be offered by your provider.

Openreach is a separate company, and nothing to do with BT Retail, who run this forum.

If you are an exiting BT Retail customer with a working phone line, then the broadband availability checker should tell you what is available.

Does that mean I can buy shares in Openreach now, Or is it still BT?

All the shares are held by the bt group. The 2 companies - openreach and BT retail and members of the BT group but trade entirely separate and per OFCOM. Of course if you have proof to the contrary then you should contact OFCOM who will no doubt investigate

it is no different to Screwfix and B&Q who are member of the same group but entirely separate

Openreach is still owned by the BT Group but became a Limited Company in 2018.

You can buy Shares in the BT Group as that’s a Plc but you have to be invited to buy Shares in a Ltd Company.
