Static IP address - why can't BT offer this as an option for residential customers?

Who don't BT introduce a static IP address option for residential broadband customers? Plusnet provide this as an option whereas BT only provide static IPs for business packages.

There's no way of mixing services from the residential and business packages so I can't pick BT TV and mobile from the residential package with broadband and phone from the business package.

I'm sure there are many of us out there who would pay a monthly or one-off premium to obtain a static IP so why not introduce it?

Hi,

I already do that but many email server checks require that a static IP be used so any changes to the IP are recognised and the security of the server downgraded by certain check services.
