FTTP

At the moment, I am using 5 years old BT8500 digital cordless phone on my landline.

Please let me know above phone is compatible with BT's digital voice service.

I am planning get FTTP service in the near future which is currently available on our street. Also I would like to know which brand of ONT ( Optical Network Terminator ) is trouble free for smooth operation ? Thank you guys, in advance !

You can plug any existing phone system into the phone socket on the BT Smart Hub 2.

You will get whichever ONT that Openreach install. You cannot fit your own.

Can you confirm BT Smart Hub #2 has got same electronics such as Huawei #4 (Port Modem) that BT may be using in their Fibre circuits ?

The smart hub 2 is only used as a router, when connected to FTTP. It has no optical interface, so its nothing like an ONT. (Modem).

Thanks Keith for the earlier replies......

However I have couple questions for you :-

I have ordered the Full Fibre from BT to my premiss : (FTTP)

Which type of latest ONT will install by Openreach engineers at my premiss ?

I need to know the dimensions of the unit, hence I will organise the location and the double power socket etc; at the point of entry.

Do I need to use Three core mains wire with Earth terminal 'On' or Two core wire will be enough for the cable run ?

This may give you an idea of the size.

Any double socket should be supplied via 2.5mm twin & earth.
