Thanks for the reply.

I read somewhere that the WAN port has to red. Is that just for BT routers and not 3rd party ones?

Wifi router compatibility with both FTTC and FTTP

Hi

I currently use BT’s FTTC and have:

- Huawei EchoLife HG612 modem (BT supplied)

- Netgear Nighthawk R7000 (AC1900) wifi router.

I want to upgrade to a new router soon. However, FTTP may be coming to my area within the next year so I’d like any wifi router that I get now to be also compatible with FTTP.

What do I need to look for on the specs of any new router to ensure that it is compatible with both my existing FTTC and future FTTP?

Thanks.

Your current Nighthawk router is compatable. Any router with a WAN port will be.

As for specs, it depends on your needs.

The WAN port is red to distinguish it from LAN ports, electrons don't care what colour it is.
