Tried to get an answer googling this, without success. Just wondering how fibre speed is limited, e.g. My speed is 150 but I could move to 300 up to 900. Are there several cables and some not used? Or if it's one cable then how is it done?

There's a cap placed on yourline restricting speed to whatever you are contracted at.

An optical fibre cable is capable of extremely high speeds, the service it carries is just fixed in software at whatever speed you are paying for.

I believe the current highest speed carried by a single fibre is 1Pbps! Not in a domestic environment though 😃
