I am using my Asus router to test...which I think uses Ookla.

BT told me it needs some time to stabilize

Hi,

I just got BT 900 Fibre. With my adsl, I could check sync speeds and tune. Also after a while, speed got better. As of today, the same day I installed, my speed is a little less than 450Mbps.

Will this get better once the line matures or this os it? Should I downgrade to 500?

Same here - my max has been 600meg but averages around 450.

Out of interest, which speed test site are you using?

FTTP isn’t rate adaptive ( speed varying with line length/quality ) and there isn’t a training period, there is no settling in, the speed you purchase is the connection speed you get from the outset, if you are not getting what you expect there are a few possibilities, the wrong profile has been applied, your kit isn’t up to it, or the method you are using to test speed is unreliable ( should be wired , not WiFi ) or the router isn’t working as it should…there isn’t a statistic within the router you can look at and ‘see’ what your connection speed is
