Anti-virus software needs renewing?

Hi there, wonder if you can help, please?

I used to use AV software but I removed it after it expired and then I went with the BT McAfee stuff as it was free and I heard it was pretty good.

Installed it no dramas.

Over the last couple of days I noticed the dreaded yellow exclamation mark over the security shield and checked it out, to be told that my subscription to McAfee Virusscan expires soon.

Seeing as I don't have McAfee Virusscan and the BT AV is McAfee, I'm assuming it's that? How do I stop it expiring, as I thought it wouldn't expire?

I don't use Windows myself, (assuming that you are?), but ISTR that if you right click on the McAfee icon in the Task Bar, there is an option to "Verify Subscription"

Great tip, thanks - you're correct that I'm on PC.
I did that and Windows acknowledged it had verified my sub but sadly the yellow exclamation mark hasn't gone.
Maybe it will go in time..?

Don't do anything.

If McAfee have verified your subscription then all is well and it will continue to work, the problem is with Windows Defender
