After a lot of time and effort and help from forum members and Stephen at BT we have a solution. This worked for me and there may be tweaks to it but here it is, hope it helps.

Problem

- After upgrading to latest cloud client found myself permanently stuck in one time meta data initialization issue.

Suspected

- Stephen suggested the problem is down to the client app trying to index existing backup files and should delete backup (or partial backup). Looking out for folders containing many files

Attempted

- Could not delete the backup or partial backup as fails with 'one file could not be deleted

Solution

- Install the last working BT client app (thanks Willie-John)

- Backup starts working again

- Stop client

- Backup is deleatable now? Not sure why

- Delete backup through web browser (gamble as downloading backup will not work, so you lose what you have)

- Start the old BT client app

- Change the back up settings to avoid program apps (can't prove it but I think backing up BT cloud folder is not a good idea)

- Upgrade BT client app

- Everything working now
