Can someone please tell me how to close or block open ports on my BT Hub6.

I currently have several ports open that I would like to block, but the firewall has no way of doing this directly, can someone please help.

Before answering please consider the following....

1. What ports numbers is not important (they are not common ports), I just need a way to block them.
For example... Port 6969: ACMSODA

2. I am unable to determine what 'devices' are opening the ports, as even unplugging every device on my network has no effect, the ports remain open, even with router reboot.

Thanks in advance.

@Nibow

Welcome to this user forum.

Its not possible to block ports on the home hub, however, if you disable UPnP, that will stop applications opening ports automatically.

You may need to factory reset the home hub first, then disable UPnP right away, before you run any applications.

Without the factory reset first, the ports will stay open.

By default all ports will be closed on the hub.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate you taking the time.

However, after physically unplugging EVERY device in my house and then doing a factory reset as you suggested and then disabling UPnP, I get this port scan (with NO devices connected)...

Taken approx 30 seconds after factory reset....

Scanning bthub.home (192.168.1.254) [1000 ports]
Discovered open port 80/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 445/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 139/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 443/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 53/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 49152/tcp on 192.168.1.254
Discovered open port 6969/tcp on 192.168.1.254

Note: I get the same result if I use my phone to do the reset or my laptop (They are the one and only device switched on each the time).

More baffled than ever now and completely paranoid about port 6969. Contemplating buying a new 3rd party router to replace the Hub6?

Anyone can make sense of the above, I'd be grateful for your wisdom.

Thanks
