I'm getting this router on Friday so this thread has been extremely useful.

Some of the threads re setting go back 5/6 years so what are the best settings to set up on now ?

I'll run the set up as suggested but do I need to change anything after this ?

I don't think there's anything in particular you need to change from the BT Broadband side, just take the settings that the Asus routine gives you.

You obviously need to personalise it re wifi names , port forwarding etc .

If you get any issues use the "@" my name method of posting back & I'll try to assist.

@TimCurtis , super easy to set up, although did take a while to complete the process,not sure if it was doing firmware update. Couldn't figure out how to get to the dns setting as I'd like to try opendns .

Log into router
left hand side choose WAN
about 1/3 -1/2 way down the page you will see WAN DNS setting
connect to DNS server automatically - select NO
then choose your own server 1 and server 2 addresses
(I use cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1)
scroll to bottom click apply

So it's the WAN tab & then that brings up the Internet Connection & you see an entry on the screen & then take Edit PVC and part way down the resulting screen is WAN DNS. Unset automatic & enter what you want - OpenDNS is 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220 - and then Apply.

Found this much easier to do using the mobile app, even has a list of prefilled drop down. 👍
