CCTV if connected to your WiFi needs some protection from simple attacks.

I would recommend some of the newer WiFi 6 routers that offer PMF like the Netgear RAX120 or if you have a greater understanding of Networking something along the lines a Ubiquiti Dream Machine that offers more security options but is a WiFi 5 based router. Both will offer WIFi protection but the Unfi UDM has a far better interface to see what’s going on.

you also need a router that is supported with up to date security patches again a WiFi 6 router will be supported longer than most domestic third party routers offering WiFi 5 as they move across. A recent example is the flaw in the WiFi standard that involves all devices and many routers and APs which has now been made public. It’s not a huge concern due to how the attack takes place but the better companies tend to patch quickly most of the time.

depending on your connection you may need a modem as well rather than messing with DMZ work around.

My advice is look at what your networking requirements are and then look for a router that offers what you are happy with ie. parental controls, malware protection, type of devices you use, coverage, eco system and so on.

Has anyone got a recommendation for a router I can buy to replace this smart hub 2?

Not being able to dual band disables my CCTV and 12 separate Xioami automation devices and sensors for my home so this is frankly not acceptable.

TP-Link AC1200 Wireless Dual Band VDSL/ADSL, assuming you have a VDSL or ADSL connection. Not FTTP or G.Fast.
