      <description>&lt;P&gt;This happens on mine also. Very annoying. A bit of searching shows it is a common issue on these sound bars. Stay well away from these.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I think it is due to overzealous power saving in the sound bar that mutes the sound during quiet parts of a film etc. You'll find that if you switch to your TV speakers when this happens, the sound is normal.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;BTW sorry for the necro bump. I realise this is an old post but Internet searching for a solution to this problem brought me here.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I had exactly the same issue and phone JBL support today (01612223325) - found the phone number &lt;A href="https://support.jbl.com/gb/en/customer-service/contact.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;here&lt;/A&gt;. Very helpful - they checked my serial number, and sent me an appropriate firmware update. They said it's a known issue.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;They include a PDF with instructions, and a .bin file which is the update itself. The only issue I had was that the first USB stick I tried to use (Sandisk cruzer) wasn't recognised by the soundbar. The second one worked fine (a generic cheapo stick).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've played a few video clips and haven't had the issue yet... but I'll need to give it time to be sure.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Kojak&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thankyou. Thankyou.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I rang the number you supplied and like you eventually got an email with firmware and instructions. Have the serial number ready else it might be a frustrating call.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any info regarding the existence of the upgrade or the upgrade itself cannot be found online, a phone call is the only way.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The new firmware is version 42.37. It loaded ok but please follow instructions using buttons on unit, not the remote control.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I checked the firmware version after upgrade and it seemed to have worked. Note that I left it upgrading for a couple of hours ( not the 14mins it says) and it still did not indicate the upgrade was complete.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It's been a day now and I have not had a reoccurence. I will update all if that changes&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Try disconnecting all the inputs except the power. Also make sure there are other sources of infra red nearby. I've had issues when the sun shines through a window onto my TV etc. The remote no longer appears to work.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If it still happens then I'd guess its faulty. You could then try calling the support number given earlier in this thread.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

For the sake of those stumbling across this thread in the future with the same problem, I've gone to the liberty of tracking down the firmware from JBL, testing it to make sure it works (it does) and uploading it to google drive so people with this problem in the future don't have to jump through JBL's weird hoops just to fix an issue with their product from the factory.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You can download the firmware from here, this has been tested on my own JBL Bar Studio and it works fine. The PDF Instructions are also included in the zip file.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes this is worth mentioning.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I did check the firmware file a bit and it doesn't seem like it's serial number bound or anything (the file was modified last in 2019) so it should be just fine but as always you are doing it at your own risk etc etc&lt;/P&gt;</description>

My run in with JBL Support had been particularly irritating since they had me dig out the receipt as well so I just thought it would be easier to upload the firmware online to save others the headache in the future if they happened to run into a similar issue with their Bar Studio.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also to install the firmware make sure to follow the instructions in the included PDF file. Use a USB stick formatted as FAT32 with nothing else on it but the bin file found inside the zip. Then turn the sound bar onto USB mode and insert the USB drive. If all goes well then the LED on the sound bar should start flashing quickly. If this doesn't happen then try using a different USB stick.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
