Will old BT router work until new one arrives?

I've recently signed up to BT fibre broadband and it is due to get activated tomorrow, however my new router still appears to be in a royal mail distribution centre in Yorkshire. My question is will a different BT router work in the meantime until the new router arrives?

Thanks for any info anyone can give as working from home and home schooling is proving quite difficult trying to hotspot from a mobile phone

As long as it is a Home Hub 5 or later it will work with any broadband. HH 4 and earlier only work with standard ADSL broadband.

However if you have full fibre to the house and an Openreach ONT, you will need a hub with a WAN port.
