How long does a battery charge last

I have a BT 8600 cordless setup.

As I can't seem to use handsfree and recharge batteries at the same time, can someone please tell how long should a charge last. Today t seems that 30 minutes is the limit; no good if stuck in long queues.

Any advice please?
