BT4600 - Inductive coupler or not ?

Hi the User Guide for the BT4600 says

“The BT4600 has an in-built inductive coupler for use with digital hearing aids.”

We have tried the phone with the hearing aids set to T, I.e, inductive coupling and it doesn’t work.
The hearing aids work on this setting as we have other devices that work no problem with the T setting
