Cannot unlock a locked BT 8500 handset

We have a BT 8500 system with four handsets.

Somehow, my wife has accidentally locked one of the handsets, and I cannot unlock it by following the instructions: "Press and hold #"

How can I unlock this problem handset?

I have tried removing batteries, waiting, and replacing them, with no success.

Is this a design flaw?

Just checked my 8500 & it works as stated.

If you have tones on for key presses, does the hash key produce a tone when pressed? Just wondering if maybe they key is stuck "on".

Does the display say "unlock" at bottom left with a padlock symbol?
