While Home disc LED won't stay off

Hi there. I keep turning the LED brightness off on my discs which works but a day or two later they come back on again. Is there a way to prevent this, other than using tape?

I think this was fixed in the latest firmware but at a cost of stability and a load of other issues. If its working I'd go with the tape approach for the time being.
