Hi @foz

What I meant by 9 was

Deleted the wifi from each device in my home

Then re-connected (search for SSID/Add password etc) each device individually to the wifi service aka the WHP disc wifi network.

Waited approximately 40 mins to see if the WHP discs retained any stability and if so add the next device and repeat.

Process I adopted was to see if/find and remove a device if the WHP disc’s crashed and rebooted and move on to another so as to rule out the chance of a rogue WiFi connected device in my network.

Sadly, and after several hours in to the early hours, I could not achieve any stability, but concluded I didn’t have a rogue device. I also checked everything worked fine when test connecting directly to the ASUS router (via wifi) instead (powering off the WHP discs and re-enabling the 2.4/5GHz service on the router etc..). The only reason I use the WHP discs is that my home layout typically the BT master socket installed in the porch/front of house) which means my router/modem aren’t located optimally for a decent wifi service throughout and certainly not good enough to support working from home without repeaters or powerline devices due to where our office’s are located in the property.

My house is quite old with a few electrical rings (due to extensions / new wiring etc.) so power line extenders did work and where awfully slow in comparison to the WHP discs when they work 😳

Premium & Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 SGAB/C20832C Early Adopter now live

Premium & Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 SGAB/C20832C Early Adopter now live

SGAB20832C and SGAC20832C have been made available for Early Adopter as of 29th November 2021.

Changes since SGAB/C208326:

Fixed occasional primary disc random reboots

System stability improvements

Important Upgrade Advice for Premium Whole Home Wifi Customers:-

For those on an older version than 822C you will not be able to upgrade directly to 832C, therefore you will need to first update your discs to SGAB20822C before having access to any further updates, including this release.

General upgrade advice:

After the update, we recommend you leave your discs for a few hours to allow them to settle into their configuration

During this time your Wi-Fi connection will be working fine, but you may see lights turning orange and blue and short drops in connection. If this happens we recommend not moving your discs or adjusting any settings

When your network has settled, you may also notice that the disc layout displayed on the App is different or that your devices connect to a different disc – this is completely normal

If you have good internet connection on all your devices, your Whole Home Wi-Fi is working properly so there should be no need to change its layout or network configuration

If the new firmware is not working as you’d like, try powering off/on all the discs at the socket and allow them to reconnect and settle. If you still need help afterwards, come back to us, here on Community, or contact the Helpdesk on 0808 100 6116 or email btconnectedhome@bt.com so that we understand your issue and help fix it

It maybe an Early Adopter (As yet we have not had a stable release as such)!

You may need to enable Early Adopter on firmware update page to see this latest version. If not seeing after that reboot your system it should then show.

Fixed occasional reboots…. Well that’s a major understatement there David… presume you’ve not been following the thread against the last firmware release!

Can some one brave enough to try it tell my from the real world experience if this update is indeed stable, as 822C is working ‘just about’ for me at the moment and can’t risk another week of testing BT’s untested ALPHA firmware releases for them again…. 🤬

I have given it ago.
Agree with you regarding reboots, random, constant would be a better description.
BT please note: The rebooting disc is not on always on the primary disc, the primary disc is just the highest mac number for the gui IP, the disc that reboots is the downlink disc (for me at least) this can be a different disc to the primary disc! The disc that's actually listed as downlink i assume is the one used to connect to the LAN ( i have 2 with Ethernet Backhaul) as listed in:
/status/statusdiscs/
Ethernet Status: Port 1: Connected - downlink

@ Grumpywilber to roll back go to http://mybtdevice.home/rollback.htm or http://yourprimarydiscip/rollback.htm

i can confirm you can rollback: Rollback version: SGAB20822C

So far so good but only up 1 day 4 hours so far, lets see if we can get past the 2 week mark without any reboots before I start thinking they've possible made some improvements.

I only use quite a basic settings within discs because they're use on a vlan IoT network. All static leases are controlled by router so no fancy settings tested within the premium discs to be honest.

I've just tried to update the firmware this evening.

It didn't seem to apply to all the discs and the end result appeared to be they factory reset themselves. The discs all reverted to broadcasting the original SSID.

I factory reset each disc individually via the button on the back of each disc and set them back up with wifi backhaul.

I switched back to ethernet backhaul and the app told me it was a new network again so I had to complete the initial set up routine (selecting pack size, naming discs etc).

This happened twice.

On disc names, the home screen of the app was showing "new disc, tap to configure". The next screen showed no name, but the disc details screen did show the name I had previously given the disc.

It was only after things had stabilised that I configured the custom SSID.

Devices have now connected back up. I've tried to restore device settings from a backup but it was unable to restore anything (crosses for each item in the list).

Does the device backup include data usage information? I've not noticed device setting restores recovering that information before. Nevertheless I seem to have full data usage information so not sure if that is because I tried to restore device settings, or the factory reset hasn't worked...

Will wait and see whether this version is any more stable than the previous which was a complete car crash.

Bad news

Looking in the premium disc gui this morning it shows both Ethernet backhaul disc's rebooted around 7:08 (15hrs ago) at the same time, so they never made it to two days uptime, however this has rebooting both Ethernet BH disc's not just the downlink discs as it did on previous fw's ! i will continue to monitor give it a fair test.

Oh dear @foz not a great start. Personally I think it’s time for BT to swap our unreliable discs for a newer product as gesture of good will…. After all we’ve all been Alpha testers this past year for free now and we still don’t have a working final firmware !!

As far as I am aware the new WiFi 6 disc (grey disc's) uses this firmware, premium = SGA B 20832C, grey wifi 6 = SGA C 20832C as per title! There was a chap in previous thread has both premium and wifi 6 grey discs and confirmed they both use this firmware so hardware must be simliar and both have same issues so don't think about running out and buying the wifi 6 as you'll be just as disappointed.

Happy for bt to exchange them for grey ones

Looks like there's still problems with this firmware - I sayed on 822C as that was the most stable but still only lasted 5-6 days before starting to reboot the router connected disc.

@foz does you clearing of the data still temporarily fix the issue.

I managed to get hold of 3 of the BT Whole discs to test (not premium). They have been faultless - up solidly for two weeks - had a power cut in the middle but discs simply came back online.

Surprisingly (NOT) BT never replied back to my question asking if this data can be cleared from browser interface (not just app)! So I've never had chance to test this theory, I've always changed SSID also re-a few post above.
The old bt discs work great 97 days uptime on mine currently and that would have been a power cut I bet, they never miss a beat the old discs, thats why I purchased these premium discs thinking they would were an update on old ones but how wrong was i ?
