Hi

I have been asked if I can find a VoIP phone that also gives 1571 notifications - can any help and point in the right direction - the BT shop does not appear to have any and googling VoIP phones I have not idea what may work, and cannot find many wireless ones as well.

The local Church Office renewed it's broadband connection and then a VoIP phone arrived - following which the landline was cut off (with no notice).

The VoIP phone works fine but everytime the office is left there needs to be a check with 1571 to see if anyone has phoned.

There used to be a simple answer machine that flashed when a message was present - but thanks to BT cutting the phone line off this no longer works.

It would really help if BT explained what it was doing and how people can keep the functionality they need when they decide to "upgrade" to internet telephony without telling people the implications when they re-contract!

At the moment the "improvement" is a major backward step that is causing potentially missed calls at a Church Office - this cannot be correct.

Can anyone point to a VoIP (wireless) phone that can plug into a BT router that will give a notification (such as a flashing light) when a 1571 message has been received.

Thank you

The digital phones supplied by BT have 1571 free and the phones light and message if message has been left. In addition you can connect your existing phone to the socket on the back of the SH2 and should work as before. You may need to remove the sticker first

Thanks
I presume this is what BT call Digital Voice then yes - but the phone sent by BT does not have any message waiting light nor does it advise if there is a message on the screen - are there different types of phones supplied by BT?

Thanks - as commented the phone supplied by BT have no flashing light and no messages come up on the screen.

If the office can use it's old answering machine that is what they will do - it worked - thank you for the comment about how to connect the existing phone.

PS - Why does BT not give any advice about this before just changing the line over - it's an awful service and will cause lots more confusion as this switch goes ahead - just a fact sheet would be a good idea....

Have you gone to MYBT and then DV then manage to change the settings to suit you
