How do you reset BT Pro Box and Turn off telly

hi there, the BT Pro Box seems to have no reset button or off/on switch, how do you do both things?

Also my remote is paired up to tv, so volume is fine (although it need to be on 40 not 20 to be loud enough compared to old box). My question is on the old BT remote there was an OFF button for the TV, but now its just the BT Box OFF button and the Source button. Can you turn off the TV itself from this new remote?

To turn the box and tv off at the same time just hold down the BT button for a couple of seconds. Tapping it just turns the box off/on.

Thanks, yeah holding it for a couple of seconds brings up an option to "Cancel" or "Reset" although goign left and right on controller doesnt let you toggle between the options, and after a few seconds it goes off the screen.

anyone know how to turn off tv itself with this new remote that would be great, used to be a dedicated button on old remote

For me holding it down turns off/on my tv and box at the same time, I don’t think you can turn only the TV off if that’s what you’re trying to do.

Hi @junglejim,

You should be able to turn of the TV by holding the power button of the remote for a few second as suggested by @tweetSP0RT

I have the Pro Box myself at home and have never seen the ""Cancel" or "Reset"" message. Is that coming for the TV itself? Out of interest what TV are you using?

It's a 2017 Sony Bravia KD-49, a smart tv. If you need long model number let me know.

Yeah it i hold BT button for a few seconds i get this message attached.

So out of interest how do you reset this box if no button on box to turn off or rest?

Thst message seems to be a tv message - not the Box Pro.

The Box Pro has gone off and the tv is reporting no signal. If holding the 'BT' button down longer and nothing happens then the remote needs repairing.

I can confirm it is a TV message, not from the box. A long press from the standby button on the TV remote will bring this message up on Sony TVs.

yeah when you long hold the BT button it does eventually go off, but its a HARD turn off not stand by, so it take ages to turn the tv back on lol.

anyone with insight into how you reset/turn off the BT Pro Box on the box itself please let me know.

@junglejim I have a Sony TV KD49 XG7093, and the new remote works as designed, short press turns off the BT Pro box, long press turns off BT box and TV.

A long press of the power button on the TV remote for an Android TV brings up the hard restart popup shown here.
A long press (1.5 seconds) of the power button on the BT TV Box Pro remote should send a single "standby" control to the TV, but holding it even longer will then trigger the long press of the TV, causing that prompt.

So ... silly question, but have you tried long pressing, but not TOO long? i.e. play around with how long you hold the button for. There should hopefully be a middle ground where it achieves the desired effect.

I have to say that I find this all an unbelievably stupid design feature.

Maybe BT should provide a stopwatch with the remote so users can get it right.

Thanks Darren yes that has worked. If you hold the button for 2 seconds, nothing seems to initially happen but then it does put TV into standby, I guess becuase this is bluetooth going through the BT Box first. If you hold it for 3-4 seconds it does hard turn off off the TV which is annoying. So i guess its jsut something you will get used to

I am surprised they don't make this clearer in the instruction manual, as otherwise how would you know!

I think it's more likely that they just hadn't considered Android TV.
For any other TV type, holding the standby button slightly too long wouldn't cause any ill effects.

The problem if you can call it that also happens with BT Sky remote. Too long and the reset button appears. I count to three and it is just long enough to switch everything off.
