BT youview remote stopped working with Sony TV

I’ve had a BT youview remote controlling my Sony TV (KDL 32L4000) for ages but it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried following the links on the BT website which gives the code 4985 but that doesn’t work.

Tried some extra random codes from googling but nothing works. Any help much appreciated!

Hi, @marvel_matt Welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry your remote has stopped controlling your TV. Can you try the steps in this remote help guide? Your remote may need new batteries or a reset.

Thanks Neil. I’ve tried new batteries and resetting, and gone through the help videos, but no luck I’m afraid.

Thank you for sending in your details. I gave you a call yesterday, I'm sorry I didn't get to speak to you. I've had a look and you no longer have TV service with BT. This unfortunately means I can't order a replacement remote.

You can order a replacement remoted through the BT Shop

I've gone ahead and closed the case I have on your account but if you need anything, please drop me a reply.

If you're buying a new one then you could go for a PlusNet one that has "MyView" instead of BT Player as this takes you directly to your recordings.

There's a shop on a famous auction site called dcsalesint that do these for £13.50 & I can state with confidence - I got 2 - that they work very well.
