Error codes VC526 and VC081

I'm getting both these error codes at different times when attempting to watch BT sport on a laptop. Operating system = Windows 10 Home version 2004, browser = Edge version 88.0.705.56

BT's "help" claims that neither of these errors exists!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

VC526 means your internet connection is failing to keep up, and your player has been buffering for too long. It's therefore given up trying.
VC081 means a non specific error occurred with your internet connection when trying to play video.

Things are constantly changing, and unfortunately the help site team are always the last to be told.
We're in the process of re-working all the help across all of our apps, as it has become massively out of date. The web site is also being updated later this month to make it easier to find help with errors across all our apps in a single place. I'll do my best to make sure these error codes are included in the update (especially VC526 which is common to all Sport apps).

I am getting these too. Have not been able to watch on my laptop for the last week or so and have to cast the matches from my phone to TV via Chromecast.

I downloaded the app via Microsoft shop in the end rather than watch directly from the BT sport website. It works and I can now watch two matches at once, which was my ultimate goal.

I know get this ever since I upgraded to Halo and haven't been able to get it sorted out.

Just to answer the question: did you manage to fix it?

I was getting the error on a laptop computer, but not on a desktop computer which used the same internet connection, hub, etc. I therefore concluded that it wasn't a BT problem.

I ran some diagnostics on the laptop and it was dropping packets occasionally, so I concluded that this was the reason.

Is that the BT TV app? The BT site says that won't run on Windows 10, so is there a separate PC app?

These errors are for the BT Sport app.

Where are you seeing a message saying something won't work on Windows 10 though @Gooner25? It's supported for both BT Sport and BT TV.

@marchv (and anyone else experiencing this issue in their web browser) we're currently investigating why some devices are experiencing VC526 a lot more than others. Even with packet loss, the player should adjust accordingly.
We're working on a debug version that allows us to get more information from affected devices. Would you be willing to help us out? It would just mean using a different link to launch the player.

I’m am suffering vc526 when trying to watch bt sport via the internet on my Panasonic not so smart tv.
The site loads but goes to error on channel selection; I have an Ethernet connection of 40+ mb/s over a Plusnet fibre service and router.

any guidance how to resolve?

Have you disabled Smart Setup on your hub? if not, see What is Smart Setup on the BT Hub? How can I turn it on and off? | BT Help and let us know how you get on
