BT Call Protect now blocking individual withheld numbers?

Previously, if I had a spam call from a withheld number I couldn't use 1572 to block it.

Today it seems I can now block them.

(I don't use the blanket setting for blocking withheld numbers as it was blocking international calls I wanted).

Any idea how it would actually work? Does BT have access to the caller's number even though it is withheld?

Call Protect will block withheld numbers and international numbers if you have it set to do so.

I don't want to block ALL withheld numbers and international numbers.

What I'm saying is that Call Protect now seems to have the facility to block calls from specific withheld numbers. I 'm wondering how it identifies them.

In that case you block the numbers you want to add to your blacklist. Clearly, you can only block all or no withheld numbers.

I couldn't add individual withheld numbers until recently. That was the point of my post.

Last week I couldn't add individual withheld numbers.

Today I can add individual withheld numbers.

Might be of interest to anyone who didn't know BT had updated the system.

When I used 1572 on a withheld number on the old system the message said I couldn't block it.

Today it now says it's a withheld number but I can still block it if I want to.

By using 1572 to block the withheld number, does it actually block ALL withheld numbers from now on? It's fairly easy to prove by asking a mate to phone you, but using 141 before dialling your number.

Numbers are not actually withheld through the network (if you dial the operator, or 999 - they will see a withheld number) - just that end users are not able to see them.

It doesn't enable the setting in my account, and I just tested it from my mobile with 141 and it didn't block it.

Hi @Andy_N ,

I did not find @jlovie s post that clear at first but I think they are wanting to block specific withheld numbers. Or have I los the plot ?

@jlovieIt will only block withheld numbers if you have them set to block.
