Receiving calls from people saying I called them, but I haven’t!

I have recently received calls from people saying they are returning my call. I haven’t called them, but they say my number appears as a missed call. Is this a scam and should I be concerned?

It's probably scammers "spoofing" your number, so it shows when they call potential victims.

Just in case your line has been crossed with someone else, dial 17070 and the AVR should read out your number , if it matches what you expect , then as already explained, scammers can make their calls look like any number they want , but that doesn’t affect you as far as billing ,just the hassle of answering calls from people , that return the scammer call , if 17070 reads out a number you don’t recognise then your line is crossed with someone else , and obviously calls intended for that number would come through to you, if that’s the case you need to report the fault.
