How do I get hold of BT to change my unlisted number to listed

I have been unlisted since 1990 due to some past incidents that are no longer relevant. It means my number my number comes up as a private number and is not accepted by some telephone systems. I contacted Offcom and was told that I had to contact BT - how? I dial the 0800 number but none of the options are of any use to me - I need to speak to a person not a machine!

Prefixing the number dialled with 1470, will release your number for that call only, if that is any help.

I want to remove it permanently. I make a lot of calls for various reasons and quite often the calls get blocked.

I just want to talk to a real person!!!!!

Then just call 150, you will eventually reach a customer services person.

Yep called them but the options are not suitable - it is not a question about billing - so option 1 is out. It is not a fault - so option 2 doesn't help, I'm not moving house or leaving them and its not about mobile either - and none of the options has one for ' if its not one of these options hang on for an operator' either.

The closest option is billing. Regardless, if you select the wrong option you would have been transferred to the correct department.

Thats what happened in the end - still frustrating
