A few months ago I moved from Virgin to BT for phone broadband and TV. I agreed to a 2 year contract and part of that agreement was that I would have 2 youview boxes with NOW TV, I was told that I could watch NOW TV on both devices at the same time (or any 2 registered devices) and at first that was the case, but yesterday I tried to watch NOW TV on 2 devices and a message came up on the second device saying that the number of streaming devices was exceeded and I couldn't watch on 2 devices at the same time. After a very long and frustrating chat with 2 useless employees via online help the situation was not resolved so I rang customer support. I was eventually told that NOW TV altered their terms and conditions in july and I am only allowed to watch on one device now unless I pay an extra £5 a month for something called Boost. No-one on the online chat had been aware of this change and the person I spoke to on the phone hadn't been aware of it until I raised the matter, on the BT website under my account details it still says I can watch on two devices simultaneously. I said I didn't want to pay extra to and would rather cancel my NOW TV package, I was then told I couldn't do this unless I paid BT a £230 odd pound cancellation fee because I had a 2 year contract!. If I had an agreement directly with NOW TV and they changed the terms as they have done, I could cancel without any fee so I do not see why I should pay BT such an exorbitant sum when it isn't me who changed the terms of the contract I agreed to. Also I am now paying for an extra youview box that is basically just Freeview which is built into my TV anyway so what is the point of that? As soon as I possibly can I will be leaving BT for good and never returning, what a bunch of crooks! when I spoke to the customer support on the telephone I told him I had been on the online chat and they were useless and he agreed that they were hopeless and a waste of time!

Hi @stewpid

couple of initial observations

have a quick look at this thread

Watching on two devices nowtv with BT TV box - BT Community

I believe Extra Box is a monthly add on to your BT TV contract so that add-on could be removed if you didn't wish to continue with a second box.

my information is based upon the BT Consumer price Guide @-Richie-. which has a delivery charge for the extra Youview box and a monthly contract for the Extra Box service.

In the days when BT didn’t supply boxes on a loan basis there was a typical minimum extra box contract of 12 months.
