If you really want to save money, just use Windows Defender. Perfectly adequate. I’ve been using it for 15 years and never had any problems.

In fact, the story behind this is that I’d just started working for a new company in 2010 and they were due to renew their AV with a certain company with a Scottish sounding name. The guy in charge of IT run some tests using Security Essentials and it was picking up things the other AV had missed. Suffice it to say, they've stuck with Security Essentials and later Defender ever since. I worked for them on and off for the next ten years and they never had a problem.

I have a tower Windows pc and a Windows laptop. For years I have relied upon Kaspersky Internet Security on both machines. Cost in the region of £30+ per annum. The procedure whereby I renew the Kaspersky licence this year has changed and I am also thinking of reducing expenditure a bit.

Is the free Norton package via BT of equivalent standard ? (It is free for up to two machines, isn't it ?) Are there any significant disadvantages with the Norton package compared to the Kaspersky package ?

Any assistance appreciated.

Dave.

I can not give you a comparison but Norton is a well respected Antivirus Company so I would expect it to meet your needs.

If you are not sure you should do an Internet search for reviews and rating for Norton.

Depending on which BT Broadband package you have you will have at least two licences to use.

Its free, try it and see what you think. Temporarily uninstall Kaspersky so it doesn't fight with Norton.

I used Kaspersky for many years but didn't renew this year and moved to Norton in conjunction with paid for Malwarebytes , seems fine to me but then I'm not a sophisticated AV user.
