Its perfectly safe to use. You can simply buy a new faceplate and fit it yourself if you are worried about the aesthetics, and yes, you can connect the router whenever you like.

Hi,

I have recently moved into a property and my go live date is tomorrow (Friday) and have since realised the faceplate has been removed from the master socket (must have been removed by the previous tenant for whatever reason).

Will this master socket be safe to use (and should I connect my router for the go live date) or do I need a BT open world engineer out to replace the socket/fit a new faceplate?

Thanks

if it a new install are you sure it is not Fibre to your home which does not use the old style master socket and may not be positioned in same place as current master socket?
