Thanks for your reply.

Since the Investigatory Powers Act, I have kept my own record of the IP address used but I wondered if BT indicated that they do so. Under the IPA, they are legally obliged to keep a record of where you have visited for 12 months.

How do I find out how much data I'm using each month?

I'm considering moving to 5G Mobile broadband where BT/EE have told me that some sims have a fair usage limit (around 600G) where the speed consequently gets reduced. So I just want to know if this is likely to impact me.

I appreciate I am on unlimited data but I would expect my actual usage to be recorded nonetheless. I see it as similar to having unlimited minutes yet I still have access to how many minutes I've used.

Grateful for any pointers as to how to get this please. I tried calling BT but the IVR system invariably routes you to Sales who can't help.

It's in the hub. You can jot it down each day and then add it up over a month etc. (I can't remember exactly where it is, as I don't use the hub anymore).

What you do need to be careful of is if you have IP TV, (as opposed to it coming through an aerial). That really does push your usage up.

Thank you - it would be great to know how to access it in the hub.

That said, I am looking for a picture of historic month on month - last 12 months would be sufficient. Current contract expires in 2 weeks, so capturing daily use now will be of limited use I feel as our home's pattern of use is not always constant - e.g. due to varying house occupancy, holidays, home working etc.

Just had a quick look. On the Smart Hub 2 it's Advanced settings > Broadband. It resets each time the hub resets, so you need to record for a month or two.

On the old BT TV box my usage was about 700GB a month, if memory serves. I use a Sky (IP) TV puck now and the usage is up to 1TB per month.

As broadband is now unlimited use BT will not store individual internet usage as @WSH posted the only record of usage is in hub stats but any reset will delete current usage and restart the counter

I don't think BT keep a record of that and it's not in the hub anywhere.

I do not know who marked the 'solution' above - possibly someone who thought their own answer was the most accurate?

It's not. BT tech have just been in touch with me to provide the data I need. So, contrary to posts above the data IS being stored and is available on request. This is entirely logical given BT need to understand and resource manage their network load irrespective of the existence of unlimited data plans.

Ah, interesting. While they monitor the fair usage policy, I didn't think they kept long term records today.

Just out of interest, any indication they also have a record of what IP address you had and when?

(I'm not sure, but I think it was probably a moderator that flagged that post as the answer. As you're the original post, you should be able to change it).

Hi @WSH - I do not know about the IP address - I didn't need to ask - so it may or may not be held. You could always try BT Tech Support or even submit a FOI enquiry if this is important for you to know for your own situation.

For info, I was unable to change the Solution. I had changed it once previously when it was prematurely marked! Perhaps the mods have lock privileges. Anyway, I have sent a message to the mods saying that mine is now actually the Solution.

EDIT: IN the meantime, it seems as if the system has caught up and I have been able to correctly set the solution.
