Extra Box

I’ve just switched over to BT from Sky with whom we had an remote box in the bedroom which simply used wifi to connect with our main Q box downstairs. Does the BT Extra box work in the same way or does it require its own aerial connection? Thanks.

Hi, @Ridgewoodwoody Welcome to the community and thanks for posting. The extra box needs to be connected to the internet via ethernet or mini connectors and it will also need its own aerial connection.

Ah. Our hub is a long way from where the extra box would be, so that rules it out.

@Ridgewoodwoody As part of the extra box order, you can ask for BT Mini Connectors for BT TV | BT Help overcome that.

It all depends what you want to watch on the extra box, there aren't many programmes on Freeview these days that can't be viewed live without an aerial using the relevant app.

For example BBC programmes can be viewed live on BBC iplayer and ITV programmes can be viewed live on ITV hub, neither require an aerial and there are also apps for channel 4, channel 5 and UK TV.

@Ridgewoodwoody If you order them at the same time as you order the extra box you get them at a discounted rate. I believe they're around £10 when you're a BT TV customer.

There are third party ones too but we can't offer technical support if anything should go wrong with them.

Just to clarify...
Does this mean that I cannot order an Extra Box online?
Within the HELP pages there is a link called "Order Extra Box" but all it does is take me to details of my current package and there is no mention of extra box.

NB I reached the link through https://www.bt.com/help/here-for-you/ searching Extra Box in the Need more help section.
