BT8600 not announcing

BT8600 doesn't announce caller but keeps on ringing when the receiver is picked up. Installation is base unit and one satellite.

Can anyone help with this please?

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

The first thing to do is to power down the base unit for about a minute, so the DECT link is re-initialised.

See if that helps.

Who provided your phone service?

Thank you very much for your rapid response.

Regrettably re-setting the base unit doesn't solve the problem.

My landline service provider is Gigaclear.

It could be an issue with the way that Gigaclear presents the CLI (Calling Line Identification) information. Does the phone display the calling number when it rings?

As you may appreciate, this BT customer forum is going to be of limited help. If you cannot resolve the issue wit Gigaclear, it would be worth contacting the produce helpdesk for the BT8600.

No, the phone doesn't display the calling number when it rings. I suspect that you are right in suggesting the problem is with Gigaclear. I'll have a chat with them before doing anything else.

The BT8600 needs CLI for it to function correctly.

Then, without trying with another phone which has caller display, there is no way to prove it.

Borrowed an ordinary "caller display" telephone from a neighbour. Caller display works ok 😞
