Dual WiFi dongle 600

My dual wifi dongle 600, on a windows 7 pc, keeps dropping out the 300Mbps channel leaving just the 144 channel. I need to download some update files, onto a USB device, but it’s offering 4 hrs download time at 144 Mbps. I have gone through the set up procedure again to no avail, and I seem to have the latest driver version. Has anyone had similar experience, or can advise?

What package do you have? Unless it's FTTP or GFast then even 144Mb is likely to be double the download speed of your connection.

We are still on FTTC. If I unplug the dongle and then reinsert it, the faster channel shows in the network settings, but if I try to download it simply disconnects and disappears from the list of networks.

You can only download at the speed of your broadband, it doesn't matter what speed the wifi is.
