Although saying that I have the exact same setup with a BT 8500 base station within a couple of feet of the hub. When I went over to DV I thought the hub may interfere but it seems to be working fine. It was just something to try and eliminate the cause.

BT8500 Guardian cordless phone can’t find base

Phone was working fine for years. Today we connected it to a new BT router ready for the digital voice thing and the phone didn’t work. We phoned BT and they said it doesn’t actually go live until Monday so we connected it back how it was but now it doesn’t work the old way either. Seems to have lost connection to the base. Thought we would try to re register it but it says the pin of 0000 is incorrect. We would never have changed it from that if we ever had that in the first place (that’s only for extra additional handsets isn’t it?). Any ideas?

did you try taking batteries out of handset wait few minutes and then replace batteries and see if phone then connects to base unit

We tried that. It didn’t help. Thank you though.

Bit of a long shot… Have you tried switching off the broadband hub temporarily and seeing if the handset now connects to the base station? Also, when the handset is in the base station is the battery charging symbol scrolling or otherwise showing its being charged?

The handset shows as charging. We haven’t turned the router off because currently the phone is plugged back into the wall phone socket, not the back of the router.

I suspect the reason for suggesting turning off the router is because it is also a DECT base station and may be causing interference with connecting the handset to the 8500 base station.
