Are there any fairly priced voip answer machines and if so where, I seem to be getting nowhere. TIA

n.b. been told I can keep checking 1571 just on the off chance there is a message, not really a good solution for a business. Annoyed I am expected to ditch a perfectly good answer machine and spend out again.

Your existing answer machine should work exactly the same way on BT DV as it did on BT PSTN , the only complaint normally is that the built in DV answer service (1571) can answer calls before the standalone answer machine, so you have to check 1571 for messages as well as the standalone machine , the solution to that is to extend the ringing period on BTDV 1571 to the maximum (10 rings before answer or whatever ) and decrease the number of rings before answer on your own machine, to 2 or 3 rings before answering, that way your own answer machine gets to take any messages not 1571 ….the fact the incoming calls are IP is irrelevant.
