why does the persons name not come up on my BT6400 Phone when there name and number are in the phone book

Is this a new phone you are using or was it previously working as expected and has just stopped showing the caller?

No I got Four New Phones because we had BT Phones before but they were two different ones so I got the New Fast Fibre Broadband into my Property my Wife was complaining about the Old Phones that is why I got the Four Phones the same my Wife said when someone phoned on the Old phones she said the Name of the Person Phoning there Name and Number come up I did not take much notice we have the Friends Names added to the Phone Book since we got the new phones we have had the phone ring and it has gone off and it said No Number the Old Phones never come up with that Message the Call Blocker was on but even the Numbers that were in the Phone Book had to say who they were so I managed to switch that off now and they get through now I am getting to Old for this new Technology I am 80 Years Old so any Help would be very much appreciated Thanks

What do you mean ‘phonebook’ , is this the phone book contained within the handset itself , so you manually entered the name/telephone information yourself into the new phone (in the correct format ) , so the phone knows that if an incoming call from a number has an entry in the handset ‘phone book’ the phone itself can retrieve and display the name stored against that number in it’s memory.

obviously if you have new phones you need to enter this information yourself as you did with the previous handsets ….if you have manually entered your family, friends etc numbers but they don’t display the ‘name ‘ you have assigned, what does show up , the telephone number , or a message like ‘incoming call’ ?

Yes I took all the numbers off the old phone I wrote them all down in Notepad and printed them off then my wife sat and put the names numbers into the ne phones she since our phone has been plugged into the back of the Router you have to put the area code in now and now it just says incoming call I do know if this happens with the new phones

Thanks for the extra info @georedie4711

Have you tried unplugging the phones and restarting the router? This can sometimes help with a multitude of problems so worth giving a try.

I assume you have checked that caller display is enabled for your line.

Hi I am Disabled and confined to a Wheelchair and a Carer comes and sits with me time my Wife goes out he told me to sign into my BT Account and we were searching to see if there was anything on there and we Found this Form to Fill out I Filled it out and I got an Email

Your new or upgraded calling features start on: 24 Dec 2025. We'll let you know when they're ready.

Caller Display - See the number of the person calling.
and then I got another Email saying You can start using your calling features now. I do think we needed to do that before but I am 80 so I do not know so Thanks for Your Help and this could help other Members with the same problem and the Service is Free with BT

Something similar happened to us when I renewed our contract back in March and we were being moved over to digital voice. For some reason, Caller Display had been deactivated and I had to ask for it to be reinstated. The person I spoke with said it had happened to quite a lot of people but they didn't really know why! Glad to hear you got it sorted as well, but we really shouldn't have to be solving such issues ourselves!

Hi as I said I went onto the BT Website and filled out a Form then I got an Email saying it will be ready before long and as I read the Email I got another Email The following services are ready for you:
Calling features
You can start using your calling features now.
