If you’re having trouble connecting certain devices to the main Wi‑Fi network (SSID) on your new BT Smart Hub 3, you might like to try Compatible Wi-Fi. The Compatible Wi-Fi network, (set to 2.4GHz), can be enabled via the Hub Manager, (192.168.1.254) and used to connect devices that can’t join your main Wi-Fi.

Your main Wi-Fi network and Compatible Wi-Fi can be used at the same time on separate home devices. The networks are linked together. So, you can control your smart devices no matter which network they are on.

To find and enable Compatible Wi-Fi

Open a browser on a device connected to your BT Hub.

Type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar and press Enter.

You will see a secure connection message, follow the instructions in your browser to reach you hub manager on a secure connection.

Log in with your Hub Admin password (you’ll find it on the back of your Hub).

Go to the Wireless Settings on the dashboard and enable Compatible Wi‑Fi with a password of your choice.

Search for the Compatible Wi-Fi network on your device and connect.

REMEMBER: If you’ve changed the admin password since setting up your Hub, the default one on the card will no longer work. If you can’t remember the password you set, you’ll need to factory reset the Hub using the small pinhole button on the back (long press 5 seconds).

After a factory reset, the Hub returns to its original state. This means you’ll lose any personalised settings, Digital Voice contacts, and saved network passwords.
