The IP address of the connection you have been using may have changed and that IP address will not be on a black list.

I have always used the BT Email App abroad, but it has stopped working properly on this trip to Greece. I can see email headline but cannot retrieve message. This applies to the app on my Samsung phone and tablet.

I have tried using mobile data (I am on BT mobile) and using local WiFi.

Have you tried logging on using a web browser instead of using an email app?

That works, but not as handy as the app. This has never happened before.

Everything else worked on same wifi but the email app just wouldn't work gave up in the end. Never did get a solution, but it all worked when I got home.

As most spam emails originate from outside the UK it may be that the BT email servers that deal with email apps and email clients are blocking connections that originate from the IP addresses that you are being allocated while abroad.

While it is not as handy, your web mail works so you should just continue to use that and do not try changing passwords or reinstalling your email apps as that may cause your account to be locked.
