It could be worth ringing bt and asking them to send you a smart hub 2 and try that for a week see if it cuts out still if it does I would assume you need a engineer to check your line I would also ask them to check it on the bt side to see what they say.

hey all

I've been experiencing occasional slowdown in connectivity over the last few weeks.

I'm using a TP-link VDSL modem and most of the time it's solid at about 70Mbit/s. In the last few weeks, maybe months, I've been seeing occasional drops in connection speed or drop outs. This doesn't appear to affect the speed we get most of the time.

This is happening roughly once per day for a couple of minutes. I see the same thing on multiple devices.
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:42 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8741
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:43 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8742
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:44 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8743
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:45 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8744
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:46 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8745
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:47 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8746
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:48 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8747
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:49 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8748
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:50 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8749
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:51 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8750
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:52 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8751
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:53 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8752
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:54 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8753
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:55 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8754
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:56 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8755
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:57 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8756
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:58 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8757
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:29:59 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8758
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:30:00 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8759
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:30:01 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8760
Wed 1 Feb 2023 12:30:02 GMT Request timeout for icmp_seq 8761

Any thoughts on a good way to get this resolved?

If you have a spare router around set that up and see if you have same issue if you do my assumption would be there is something wrong the line it's self. Does the router go completely down or is it just dropping on devices

I don't have a spare router unfortunately.

I have multiple devices logging ping timeouts, and they all experience dropouts at the same time.
I haven't looked too hard at the router yet.

Using BT hub. Regularly lose connection (I'm wired). Seems to be if I do not use it (for a few minutes) then it drops out.
E.g. filling in survey, lost connection ... refresh and it's back.
Appears as a 'disconnect if unused, but for a minute or two' - very annoying when reading a Kindle book. Only last few weeks.
