Full Fibre Fault

Hi all,

Noticed contractors working this weekend, doing what looked like pulling fibre through ducts. My road is already full fibre but 2 new poles have gone up a few roads up. Later on in the day I could hear some banging so looked out the window and there was an installer doing something on our pole and a few minutes later our broadband went down.

Popped my head out as asked him what he was up to and if the service would come back up. He said nothing he had done could affect our connection, then, that he might have knocked something but backtracked and said there was nothing he had done which might have caused an issue. It’d be a really big coincidence it if wasn’t the third party installer.

Done a test and the system has automatically booked in an engineer to come out to us on Wednesday morning. Is there anywhere to check the status of an area for full fibre? If he has damaged the fibre serving our few streets how long is it likely to take for OR to fix it?

Morning!

Power: Green

LOS: Red

I’ve unplugged the ONT network cable from the BT router because it drops the hybrid connect every few hours to check if the fibre connection is up.

We don’t usually use the BT gear as it’s a bit useless, we have a 6E mesh system, had to remember which boxes they were hiding in up the loft!

There is a break in the fibre somewhere which could be just the connection to the CBT having been disrupted. Either way should be a simple fix.

LOS light on means Loss of Signal.(ie light)
