On your new build the developers own ground workers , laid the duct ( that Openreach supplied ) from the joint box in the footpath to your house wall , as can be seen it’s been left a few inches short of the house wall , plus the developer provides the internal optical cable ( again supplied by OR ) from the location of the ONT to the exterior wall and leaves it pushed through from inside to out , so the ground workers should make sure the duct aligns with where this cable appears on the wall , so the grey capping can cover the duct and be ‘straight’ on the wall to the CSP, the developer has done a poor job …..

However the Openreach installer hasn’t done a great job either , there is a missing duct cover and arguably that is the wrong type of capping for that make of CSP , ( although that’s a minor issue if it’s fitted neatly ) so in essence, it’s partially the developer fault but also Openreach, so yes , I would complain to get that rectified .

TBH , the Openreach FBC should have asked the OR newsites installer who did this work to come back and rectify it anyway as part of their quality checks , the FBC ( field based coordinator ) is the liaison between the site management and the Openreach newsites installers .

You don’t say if you are a BT customer, but regardless it’s your own ISP that would have to report this for you ( so not BT unless you are a BT customer ) alternatively get whoever does the snagging issues on the site, to get the Openreach FBC to revisit your plot and sort it out either themselves or by getting the Openreach installer back

Dodgy Open Reach Installation?

Hi - I've recently moved into a new build property and this is the external Open Reach installation (see pics below). Is the standard of this installation adequate, or is it something I should be raising as an issue? The wire is connected and internet is working fine). Thanks for any input.

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

If that`s an optical fibre connection, I am surprised that it works. Overall, it looks very shoddy.

Nothing's changed then.

Looks exactly like mine done 35 years ago, albeit FTTC.

If it's any consolation, it's never caused any problems.

Many thanks for the detailed reply @iniltous, its really appreciated. Based on your comments I'll get this raised with the developers as a 'snag' and specifically request a visit from the Openreach FBC. Thank you again for your input and help 🙂
