Can I bypass the UPS on this Fibre LTU?

The 4x AA cells are duff in my fibre LTU PSU. As my hub doesn’t have battery backup I’d lose service if there was a power cut. I’m wondering if I could bypass the battery pack up unit and plug the lead from the mains/12volt supply lead directly into the LTU. Would this be safe, please?

I have bypassed the battery back-up on my fibre LTU as per my previous post but now the power light on my LTU glows amber. We can stream TV ok. Should I be concerned? Has anyone had similar?
