Cannot get Fibre Cable at property

I live in the basement of a large house converted into a basement flat below and a maisonette above.

The maisonette has faster fibre but Open Reach has told me that we cannot get a second line because the building does not qualify as an MDU.

We are a separate property not an MDU how can I get a second NAD key and a fibre cable to my flat from the telegraph pole outside.

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

This is really an Openreach issue which this forum is not going to be able to solve, but you may be able to get some advice here.

Have you tried to place an order with BT Retail?

If you enter your postcode here, is your address shown correctly, ie the same as the Royal Mail database, without any other variation or duplicates of the original property prior to conversion?

It has been confirmed that the basement flat is listed as a separate property from the maisonette on the Royal Mail website

But what about the BT wholesale checker , post the entry for the address , it should show something like this if FTTP is available,

I don't have a landline or either of the other details required to use this checker ... where would I find this information?

not yet but I have tried with two other suppliers and both have tried to install a copper line not fibre

I don't have a landline, and I don't know how to find the information for an access line ID or a UPRN to be able to use the checker

Use the menu button on the checker , select address checker , enter the postcode, submit , next screen click the box to see all registered addresses for that postcode , if yours is there , click submit , if it isn’t then as far as OR are concerned, the address doesn’t exist, it probably will , it’s the survey notes that may be helpful, ideally post a screenshot of the response

There's an Address Checker tab at the top where you can enter a postcode.

You can look up a UPRN here.

No! Use the camera icon (Insert Photos) to upload the photo from your hard drive location you have shown above!

You will likely need to convert/resize that image first as PNGs tend to be too big for the 300kb limit for uploads on this forum.

ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

That shows that the address you have pasted the information from the checker for , already has FTTP installed , so either when presented with a list if addresses, you picked the wrong one , the main house and not the basement flat , or the main house residents when ordering their FTTP service inexplicably used your address ( the basement flat ) instead of their own address, or there isn’t two addresses a main residence and the basement flat , but one single address , and you picked the only one available because there wasn’t two to choose from .

This could mean the address doesn’t have two official individual units within it , otherwise it would have two entry's, one for the main residence and one for your basement flat, or the data OR use is wrong or out of date.
Its possible , if this basement flat was only recently created/ separated from the main residence , and has been correctly registered as a separate dwelling with the appropriate authorities, so it has its own a separate entrance , has its own council tax account, and has its own utilities ( separate gas, water , electric etc ) then the Openreach records may be historical whereas the Royal Mail record is up to date , if this flat has existed for a long time , then it’s odd that it doesn’t have an entry on the Openreach database as that’s pretty much a ‘copy’ of the Royal Mail dataset , so it could be it’s an unofficial flat , it’s basically just a room within a building.

If you are convinced that the flat is a separate ‘proper’ address , and not simply a room or rooms to rent , then the Openreach records need to be corrected to match the Royal Mail , assuming the Royal Mail website shows two separate addresses , the main residence and a separate basement flat .
