I have to say that the faff of changing my email address, which is used as a login on so many websites, is a fundamental reason for me not moving from BT in the past. If I was required to do so it may well cause me to bite the bullet and move on.

I understand talking to my local EE store that sometime in November BT will start moving people over to EE, landline and Broadband. They told me that I would still be using the same equipment as i am on Voip it will be done so no equipmanet has to be changed over

I was also told the I could retain my BT email accounts

Could the group help in confirming this as i have not seen anything on this

Thanks

Hi @Travelusa

If anything changes with your service, you'll be notified beforehand, so please don't worry about anything switching across.

We have some frequently asked questions at the bottom of our help page that may be useful.

As part of any switching process, everything would always be explained and agreed prior too.

If it is just used as a login rather than for communication, it is just a text string like any other and doesn't need to be a live email address.

That's true, but a lot of websites use your email address as both a login string of characters and for communication with you - to advise of progress of online orders for example.
So, if an email address ceases to be valid, you're still faced with changing it to a new valid one on an awful lot of websites.
Still, if you leave BT as your ISP, you'll keep your access to your btinternet email address, free if you don't mind a basic service, or for a fee if you want to keep the full service, including allowing access by email clients
